There are a few weeks before Crunchyroll’s big digital event and organizers bring news of what is to come in New Crunchy City.


While fans are at home, they’ll still be able to travel to the digital version of New Crunchy City. Its Theater District will host the panels and various screenings. The Central Shopping District and Anime Arts District will be V-CRX’s version of the exhibitors hall and artist alley respectively. Attendees will be able to purchase directly from those featured vendors.

The interactive Super Arcade will have special fan activations and other activities fans can do. The area will include:

  • “Onyx Equinox” Scavenger Hunt: Fans can play on the Virtual Crunchyroll Expo app starting September 3 to win a year of Crunchyroll Premium or tickets to CRX 2021.
  • Gallery Tour featuring MAPPA: This will be an inside look at some Studio MAPPAs biggest hits, alongside behind-the-scenes commentary from Sunghoo Park (Director, “The God of High School”).
  • Anime Runs Deep: A Celebrity Fan Exhibit: Crunchyroll will share some anime-inspired interpretations of celebrities who a big anime fans  like Idris Elba (Actor, “Thor” & “The Wire”), John Boyega (Actor, “Star Wars” sequel trilogy films), and LJ Collier (Athlete, Seattle Seahawks)
  • Yuzu’s Cat Cafe: A 24/7 live stream of kittens from The Kitten Academy where fans can donate or adopt a cat of their own.
  • Anime Rave: Each night of the show fans can listen to music from DJs on Twitch and dance the night away.
  • Virtual Schwag: There will be cosplay backgrounds, posters, as well as virtual item giveaways from some of our industry panels.
  • Quiet Rooms: A place for fans to unwind with laid-back music and see anime artwork from “Tower of God”, “Somali and the Forest Spirit,” and “Laid-Back Camp.”
  • Hatsune Miku Symphony Orchestra Concert: The Miku Symphony is celebrating its 5th anniversary with this special performance by vocaloid Miku Hatsune and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Show Creator and Executive Producer Sofía Alexander will be making several appearances for the upcoming show “Onyx Equinox”. She’ll be discussing both the making of the series and Mesoamerican mythology used in it.


Japanese band MYTH & ROID will be taking part in the V-CRX festivities with their own panel. Anime fans will remember several of their songs including from the shows “Overlord”, “Re:Zero” and “Cautious Hero”.


More of the productive team from “The God of High School” will be joining Webtoon creator Yongje Park to talk about the action-packed series. The list includes Director Sunghoo Park, Creative Director Setta, Character Designer Manabu Akita and even Jin Mori’s voice actor Tatsumaru Tachibana. There will also be a special appearance from the opening theme song performer KSUKE along with a special message from K-Pop idol group CIX who sang the ending theme song.


“Noblesse” Director Yasutaka Yamamoto and voice actors Tarusuke Shingaki and Daisuke Hirakawa will be joining Webtoon creators Jeho Son and Kwangsu Lee in the panel regarding the upcoming series. Fans will be able to get a sneak peek during the panel.


Crunchyroll released the finalists selected for Hime’s Cosplay Cup. The event sponsored by Bokksu will crown a winner on Saturday September 5th.
Crunchyroll-hime herself, voice actress Rian Tachibana will also make an appearance in a panel.


Writer Matt Schley will be hosting the “The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter” panel with the show’s staff and crew.

Shusuke Katagiri, producer on the hit show “Dr. STONE” will also have a panel talking about making the anime series.
