Crunchyroll announced earlier in June 2020 that they would not be able to hold Crunchyroll Expo this year at the San Jose Convention Center due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers already set new dates to August 6th-8th, 2021. While it is quite a long time to wait, fans can still enjoy festivities at New Crunchy City with Virtual Crunchyroll Expo 2020. On September 4th-6th (the originally scheduled dates of CRX 2020), attendees will be able to log into V-CRX to check out the several panels, cosplay competition and digital art shops. Original author of the isekai “So I’m a Spider, So What?” Okina Baba will be making an appearance during the event. The anime adaptation announced a Winter 2021 premiere after a production delay due to the pandemic. Yen Press translated Baba’s series into English. Head to Yen’s website for more information including where to purchase a copy. Director Kenta Onishi, producer Yuki Yamada and editor Satoshi Shoji will be discussing the upcoming anime series “The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter”. Based off of Meguru Seto’s light novel, the story follows Noir who has a rare magical being consulting him. With little luck with his other plans, he follows its advice and finds a secret treasure trove of wealth and experience. Seven Seas Entertainment will be bringing both the light novel and manga adaptation this fall. Characters (left to right): Ruka, Mami, Chizuru and Sumi. Some of the cast of the summer 2020 anime “Rent-A-Girlfriend” Sora Amamiya (Chizuru Mizuhara), Aoi Yuki (Mami Nanami), Nao Toyama (Ruka Sarashina) and Rie Takahashi (Sumi Sakurasawa) will be participating in V-CRX. The anime is currently showing and is available on Crunchyroll. V-CRX will also be having Crunchyroll-Hime’s Cosplay Cup on September 5th. The competition is accepting applications until July 26th and will be hosted by Mario Bueno and Vampy Bit Me. V-CRX revealed that Creature of Habit and God Save the Queen will be half of the judging panel. For those wanting to head to New Crunchy City this September, registration is necessary but also free. Head over to CRX’s website for more information including new announcements in the future.
