“As Miss Beelzebub Likes” – Hell’s toughest prefers a softer touch Faith Orcino November 29, 2018 Articles, Manga, Reviews Matoba’s 2016 manga “As Miss Beelzebub Likes” shows what goes on behind the scenes in the underworld. Mullin thought he got his dream job working as the assistant of the legendary leader of Pandemonium, Beelzebub. His image of the powerful fallen seraph disintegrated soon after he saw her private life. Her nearly nude sleeping habits and childish tendencies annoyed him but somehow he kept her in high regards and might have some affection for her. Beelzebub’s current state surprised him and wondered if he’ll ever see the rumored ruthless commander. For now, Mullin must do his best to stick to Beelzebub’s schedule and keep her prim and proper. Matoba shines a cheerful and bright light with her portrayal of demons and fallen angels. Her art has a delicate feel with the use of fine lines and distinct detail. She plays a lot with irony and opposites, having Mullin discovering each new characters’ contradictory traits. While the Pandemonium’s bureaucratic system keeps things in order, the characters bring their own elements to create some chaos. It seems that they focus at bit more of the negative attributes and pick on each other, but each of the little stories find a way to help strengthen the characters. Volume Four of “As Miss Beelzebub Likes” will be out in December 2018. The anime adaptation also arrived and is available on Crunchyroll.
