It’s Day 5 of our 12 Days of Anime Christmas and we are featuring three Christmas specials any anime fan should watch during the Christmas Season.

Gintama – Episode 37 “People Who Say That Santa Doesn’t Really Exist Actually Want to Believe in Him.”

As with all Gintama episodes, this one is filled with satire, tropes and hilarity. Gintoki meets Santa and his “reindeer” and attempts to improve their image and find the true meaning of Christmas… by dressing them like thieves and sneaking into houses in an attempt to give presents to kids. It, obviously, does not work out. This episode is a hilarious take on the Santa mythology and presents it in true Gintama fashion.
K-On – Episode 7 “Christmas!”

The episode centers around main protagonist Yui Hirasawa’s sister Ui Hirasawa remembering how the former once attempted to give her a white Christmas when they were little, by putting pillow-stuffing on the tree outside. This idea is so cute, especially if you live in warmer climates. Yui’s friend and band mate, Ritsu decides to hold a Christmas party for their band club, and while her initial plans of holding it at another friends house fail, they eventually decide to have it at Yui’s house while The Hirasawa’s are on vacation. While not huge fans of parents leaving their high schoolers alone on Christmas, this episode is full of loving moments of friendship and proving that friends are always their for you when you need them.
Haruhi Suzumiya – Episode 19 “The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya Part 19”

Haruhi is curious about the motives of Santa, she sets Kyon to keep watch for him while everyone else has a Christmas Party. They encounter Taniguchi, who dressed up as Santa to return an unwanted kappa (a river monster originating from Japanese folklore) he stole from the computer club. When Haruhi sees him, her powers transform him into what she envisioned Santa to look like and chases him until he escapes and turns back to normal.
