Once again FAKKU went above and beyond for Anime Expo. Not only was every panel at capacity, they also added so many more panels and a huge booth in the entertainment hall to connect with their fans. For those who do not know what/who “FAKKU” is, I would recommend not googling their name while in a work or family environment. FAKKU is one of the largest English-speaking hentai websites in the world. The site attracts over 1 billion page views a month for both its translated adult manga, doujinshi, and anime. Since 2010, FAKKU’s moderators, including the creator of the site Jacob Grady, host panels and booths at Anime Expo.IMG_1064This year we got to experience one of these live events at the Friday night “Hentai Worth Watching” panel. The two hosts, including Jacob Grady, shared their stories of how they discovered hentai and what kept them coming back. Their perspective of the entirety of Japan originally was based on what they have seen from hentai. They see Japan as some magical place where explicit body parts can move, grow, shape, form, and be just about anything you can image (and they have imagined a lot). The panelist were both very laid back and kept the laughter going the entire time. They would provide commentary to hilarious anime stills, simplify story lines, and point out all the ridiculous details of each analyzed anime; showing that hentai can get away with literally anything they could envision. For having one of the biggest panels with waiting lines outside for hours, FAKKU really knew how to get a full house to laugh until they were crying.
